A study revealed that the high-polyphenol diet can help reduce the number of deaths caused by chronic diseases such as stroke and heart disease by 30% in adults and the elderly.


Polyphenols are naturally occurring chemical compound found in many fruits and vegetables and serve to give color to the skin and leaves.

The researchers incorporated in The Biomarkers and Nutritional & Food metabolomics Research Group at the Universitat de Barcelona, Spain, analyzing research data that has been conducted for 12 years by researchers in Italy involving 807 men and women at the age of 65 years.

Then the researchers analyzed the effect of a diet rich in polyphenols through a nutritional biomarkers, or total urinary polyphenols (TUP) as a measure of the amount of edible nutrition.
